VerbyAI ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our iOS application.

Data Collection

VerbyAI does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to external servers. All your learning data — including your profile, progress, word lists, and exercise history — is stored locally on your device and is never shared with third parties.

Camera Access

VerbyAI requests camera access solely for the Scan & Learn feature, which allows you to photograph English text for vocabulary analysis. Images captured by the camera are:

• Processed on your device to extract text
• Sent to Google's Gemini AI service only for word analysis purposes
• Never stored, uploaded to our servers, or shared with third parties

Microphone Access

VerbyAI requests microphone access for the Speaking Practice feature, which allows you to have conversations in English. Audio from the microphone is:

• Processed on your device using Apple's Speech Recognition framework
• Converted to text locally on your device
• Never recorded, stored, or transmitted to external servers

Speech Recognition

VerbyAI uses Apple's built-in Speech Recognition to convert your spoken words to text during speaking exercises. This processing is handled by Apple's on-device speech recognition system. We do not access or store any audio recordings.

AI Services

VerbyAI uses Google's Gemini AI (via Firebase) to generate personalized exercises, analyze text from scanned images, and provide conversation responses. The data sent to this service includes:

• Your CEFR level and learning preferences (no personally identifiable information)
• Text extracted from scanned images (for the Scan feature only)
• Your typed or transcribed responses during exercises

No personal information such as your name, email address, or device identifiers is sent to any AI service.

Third-Party Services

VerbyAI uses the following third-party services:

• Firebase (Google) — Used for AI-powered exercise generation via the Gemini API. Firebase's privacy policy can be found at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

Data Storage

All user data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This includes:

• Your learning profile and CEFR level
• Saved vocabulary words and flashcards
• Exercise history and progress statistics
• Daily streak and XP data

This data is not backed up to any cloud service by the app. If you delete the app, all local data will be permanently removed.

Children's Privacy

VerbyAI is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
